Replacement Theory Goes Mainstream

I need to give Nicholas Confessore and Karen Yourish credit for some of this information.

At the extremes of American life there is replacement theory. It is the notion that Western elites, sometimes manipulated by Jews, want to “replace” and disempower white Americans. The idea of replacement theory is now going mainstream.

Replacement theory, once on hidden message boards and white nationalist sites, has gone mainstream. In has become a potent force in conservative media and politics. The theory has been borrowed and remixed to attract audiences, retweets, and donations.

Mainly, they have become commonplace in the Republican Party. Spoken aloud at congressional hearings, echoed in Republican campaign advertisements, and used by a growing array of right-wing candidates and media personalities.

Gervel Robinson note a piece, Whoever Steers the Ship, Makes the Rules. It was about the 1619 introduction of blacks into America. I wanted to share it.


In 1619, lovely gentlemen from America, a place they discovered that was already inhabited, went to Africa and took many of them back to America. Without any coercion or hesitation, the Africans left their homeland and shackled themselves in the bottom of a cruise ship called the White Lion.

The trip was glorious, and the Africans were delighted. For fun, many of them practiced diving off the side of the ship into the ocean. Others got sick, and many died, but people die on cruise ships every year, so it was not a big deal.

For many years, most Americans have been asleep. We’ve not been paying attention to the systemic injustices that were building and led us to the point we’re at. The mistrust and dissatisfaction that we’re seeing from many groups of people for many different (and often opposing) reasons–this unrest didn’t come out of nowhere. 

Spotting Fake News

As many as three in four Americans overestimate their ability to spot false headlines or spotting fake news. The worse they are , the more likely they are to share that fake news, researchers reported.

Republicans were more likely to fall for fake news than Democrats according to a study. The study had 8200 respondents.

We, The Sheeple

Are we being sheeple? It seems like we have forgotten the Preamble to the Constitution.

“We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

The Preamble of the U.S. Constitution introduces everything that is to follow in the Constitution’s seven articles and twenty-seven amendments.  The Constitution serves as the single authoritative written text to serve as the fundamental law of the land.

To paraphrase someone “The Preamble declares who is enacting the Constitution. It is the enactment of all U.S. citizens. The people own the Constitution, not he government or any other branch of government.

Don’t Be a Sheeple

This term, sheeple, I think is funny, but it is not.  A combination of the words “sheep” and “people” meaning that the person or persons are acting as a group or to only behave based on what is trending. There are too many people today that just follow others because they do not know better.  They are like sheep that follow the leader even if the leader leads them down the wrong path.

My Grandchildren

Having 6 grandchildren (ages 12,11,10,9, 7 and 1), I worry about their future. I look at things going on in the world and wonder what it would be like for them when they grow up.I am fortunate that they are being raised by intelligent and hard working parents. But, good parenting cannot always protect children from the ills of the world.  I grew up in a time where we made our own fun. We would be outside playing as much as we could.  We competed against each other and learned that losing is not the end of the world, but a way to make yourself try harder.  I see where everyone gets a trophy no matter if they are first or last. I believe this is making future generations less competitive with others and accept whatever happens.  We make our own luck, we do not wait to have it handed to us.
